Statement from the family of David Miller This Friday we will - TopicsExpress

Statement from the family of David Miller This Friday we will be holding a memorial service for our dear darling David, murdered in Thailand two weeks ago. The service will be held at 3pm at Holy Trinity Church, Jersey and hopefully will be attended simply by Dave’s many friends and his family. We would please ask the press to treat the occasion sensitively. If you do have to cover the funeral, please can you remain outside the church, on the pathway from the steps leading from the main road. There was some wild and irresponsible speculation of the circumstances surrounding Dave’s death, which deeply traumatised us. However, we would like to thank all those of the media who have been trying to report the facts in a responsible manner and especially for respecting our wishes to come to terms with this tragedy as a family without intrusion. Our hearts go out to the Witheridge family who are also coming to terms with the sudden trauma of the equally senseless ending of their Hannah’s life. Our thoughts are also with the Ware family and any other innocents that have been hurt by harassment and wrongful accusation. We have been overwhelmed by the breadth and depth of support provided to us by so many here in Jersey and also by people far away. We would like to thank our friends and family for their help and support. We were also particularly touched by the vigil and prayers held by good people on Koh Tao and we thank them for their prayers and respect. We don’t feel the need to involve ourselves in the commentary surrounding the investigations in Thailand. We urge anyone who can help these investigations to please assist the Royal Thai Police in solving these murders and bringing the culprits to justice. We are confident that these people will be caught now or later. Now we would like to concentrate all our thoughts on our lovely David. Taken from us before his time and before he could blossom to his full potential. He was our David. He was very special. He brightened up the world and we miss him terribly. Sue, Ian & Michael Miller. Jersey, 1st October 2014.
