Zaki Ibrahim Adeeb Hossain So Ive been nominated to give my list of books that have changed my life. Here goes nothing... 1: Epic by Conor Kostick This book lives up to its title in every way and was written by one of the developers of the first RPG games. It really gave me a glimpse of a new perspective on life in general and the different and special qualities that we all have inside and make us who we are. I read this book when I was 13 and even now I can remember the storyline. Thats how good I found it. 2: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini This book was just amazing. And this book made me realize the true value of so many things we may take for granted such as a basic education as well as about love and devotion. 3: Band of Brothers (both the book and the mini series) by Stephen E. Ambrose 4: Citizen Soldiers by Stephen E. Ambrose Both the Stephen Ambrose books started me on a long and deep love for history! Band of Brothers especially was very inspirational for me, describing the true comradeship and resilience of Easy Company even when they were deep in the toughest parts of World War 2. 5: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak This book was unbelievably haunting and I could still remember the (imagined) voices of some characters for quite a whole after I finished the book. This book really spoke to me of the horrors of World War 2 and also the human qualities of kindness and empathy even in the midst of carnage. 6: Le chemin parcouru by Ishmael Beah This book really shook me to the core. Ishmael Beahs autobiography of him as a boy soldier in Sierra Leone made me realize how much we take safety and security for granted and it gave me an idea of the trauma and pain that war can inflict on many innocent souls. Plus this riddle in the book: You are out hunting. Suddenly you see a monkey that youve never seen before. As you raise your gun to shoot it, suddenly the monkey looks at you and says: If you shoot me your mother will die. If you do not shoot me your father will die. What will you do? 7: Momo by Michael Ende This book is one you should read if you want to realize the true power of listening and understanding (at least thats what I think haha). The book itself was in my opinion a very good analogy for life today that even now when I think back on it I come up with more and more interpretations of the story. 8: The Dip by Seth Godin A short book that really gets to the point about holding on even when everything seems so hard. Its been a real inspiration for me. I still rage quit sometimes but Ive found that when I push on I can exceed my limits and achieve things Ive never even dreamed possible. I nominate Mohamed Danish Fawaz, Adam Mohamed Naveeth, Claire Chan, Zhang Hui Ting, Liavv Zhong-VVei.
