Statement of Candidacy My name is Brad Stewart and I am running for AFM Treasurer. If elected, I will bring my professional and race environment experience, along with my dedication as a true motorcycle race enthusiast to help the AFM thrive as a club that nurtures new racers, represents a spring board to professional racing careers and offers a fun, safe race day experience for participants, fans and families alike. Raised in Novato, I remember when Sears Point was just a strip of asphalt winding through the hills. I attended Santa Rosa Junior College and San Francisco State University, graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing. I am President and CEO of my own company and have more than 24 years experience in the music industry, managing artists and running an international booking agency. I previously served on my homeowner’s board during a time of many difficulties including an ongoing construction defect lawsuit, gaining valuable board experience such as understanding financial reports and helping to manage an annual budget in excess of $650,000. I understand the need for the treasurer and board to pay close attention to fiduciary responsibility and to the procedural events of our club. Thus retaining the ability to be responsive, especially in these times of financial hardship and an ever-changing race environment. I have been with the AFM for 18 years as a handler, flagger, communicator, crash-truck response and start/finish operations. Additionally, for the past five years I have been Flag Chief and On-Track Operations Coordinator for Race Control at all pro-events (NASCAR, Indy, WTCC, Historics and the now omitted AMA event) at Sonoma Raceway. I have also supported many MotoGP/WSBK events at Laguna Seca. But, above and beyond all of this… I am a race fan. A motorcycle race fan. It was my first love and still is. My first bike was a 1994 Katana 600 (before it became “The Bubble”). I then had a CBR900RR followed by a GSXR1000. Although I have never raced, I’ve participated in high-speed runs, so I understand the desire and need for speed. For me, there is nothing better than the smell of race fuel in the morning. I’d like to see our club grow and prosper and I believe I can help in that process. I also believe in transparency and checks and balances when running an organization and as treasurer, I can provide mature, competent oversight to protecting the assets and interests of the AFM. Thank you for your vote.
