Status Update By Bernie Ellis Some things Im thankful for -- That when they say jump!, We just smile and ask How high? Good late afternoon from the berry patch, all yall. Im still dressed in go to town slacks and shoes so I may not do much farm work in the fading daylight. But I did want to follow up my earlier frantic message about (now) next weeks Koozer-Kuhn hearing with a more reflective and grateful take. Cause, folks, it matters not when they say they want to hear from us. What matters is that -- soon come -- we speak. And we will take their breath away In the past three hours, I have received commitments from 6-7 patients to speak (a fast paced three minutes apiece). In addition to the pt panel, I will open and close with broad K-K points and Cathy Jolley will speak about the scope and $$$ of Colorados medical cannabis program. To do this will take 40 minutes (before taking any questions) and thats what Ive asked for. If we get less, well adjust. Regardless, after the hearing, I will be organizing a press conference for the seven patients and others and will work to get statewide media there. Mucho Must See TV, por favor. I also want to ask anyone and everyone who has come to Legislative Plaza before -- and those who have not yet come -- to consider joining us next Wednesday, March 5, for another Lobby Day for Koozer-Kuhn and to be part of a large attendance at our presentation before the full House Health committee. That committee meeting starts at 1:30 pm in room LP16. Next Wednesday , March 5. Oh ... and just who will our panel include? Wellll... Toni Corbin, Lebanon, speaking for her son Wally who will be with us on a gurney Andrew Rooker, Nashville, a wheel-chaired epilepsy patient Cathy Walker, Lawrenceberg, who used cannabis during cancer treatment. Kim Hipps, Nashville, an RN who retired after her multiple sclerosis diagnosis John Donovan, Chattanooga, a juvenile rheumatoid arthritis sufferer who dropped from ten Tenncare-funded meds to two using cannabis Jamie Givens, Nashville, a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy Seth Green, Johnson City, a cerebral palsy patient who just organized a Koozer-Kuhn rally in Johnson City that drew 400+ people and gained us at least two R votes on the committee. Lets see -- am I leaving anyone out? Oh yes ... My Possum Town buddy Penn Mattison is flying back from Colorado Springs to speak for his baby Millie whose seizures are already responding to the cannabis-based medicine they can get her in the free state of Colorado. So yeah. All things considered... We are ready for our (fill in the blank) minutes of straight talk for the Goddess. With all yall in the gallery, giving breath to our collective voice for science, common sense ... and a good $100 ounce of safe, effective and reliable medical cannabis. Its time Tennessee. (In fact , its just about planting time.) While we can, lets take their breath away.
