Stay in the Sweet Spot If anyone touches fire they will be burned. If one wades into the rain with no covering they will be wet. One cannot put burning coals in the bosom and not be singed. Touching a live and bare high voltage wire is sure death. It does not matter who you are ,your status or position, the same fate awaits all. In our text, Israel was blessed and they had God on their sides. they had the blessing of Abraham but they were warned to watch what they dabbled into lest they expose themselves to the curse. Some things are untouchable even to the blessed. The separated life is a New Testament concept. Holiness is a part of grace. There remains untouchables for the receivers of grace. Grace gives power to deal with sin not a license to wallow in sin. Grace sets free to live holy, but grants no freedom for lasciviousness. Grace teaches to deny all ungodliness, not all piety. Although the blessing is now available freely by grace through faith, there are things the blessed could do or touch that will render the blessing ineffective. The blessing is like an umbrella of protection from the rain of curses that has been pouring on the world since the fall of Adam. It is like shelter from the force-field of wickedness the whole world lies within. Staying in the blessing is being in the God Zone in an ocean of evil. It is living in the oasis in the scorching desert of the world. But you must abide under the umbrella and stay in the sweet spot for the protection of the blessing to be effective.
