Weve been asked to take on some students whose need for food is critical. We will do so. I have had people ask me why parents dont feed their children. It is for most of us not an understandable concept. I am seeing that some of these children are forgotten. Parents are not able to parent for whatever reason. Its easy for those of us who do not smoke, drink, gamble and who do have most priorities straight to say what these people should do. We do not have that devil on our backs. Bottom line, the children suffer and we are responsible to help end suffering for our fellow man. I have seen first hand where a little kindness turned a persons life around. I met a former student years after she graduated. She hugged me and said Ive wanted to tell you how you helped me in high school.i looked forward to coming to your class every day because it was such a relief. You always spoke to me, smiled, helped me when I asked. You never asked me over and over again about the problems I had at home, or burdened me with trying to explain how I felt about my problems. I could go to your class and be me, a kid in school. This is a story that I cherish. A little kindness and smile, helped this child? She is successful. Enough.
