“Step into the Future” The Tribal Youth Leadership Committee (TYLC) hosted their first event on Wednesday, August 13th, 2014: “Step into the Future” a roundtable discussion about higher education. The TYLC facilitated the discussion for Tribal members to share their experiences about attending college. Topics of discussion included: student housing/dorm life, encouragement and support, cultural connections, time management, participating in internships and volunteer work, scholarships and funding available for Native students, challenges, managing parenting and employment while going to school, and much more. It was a great evening of sharing and learning, with back-to -school raffle prizes. The TYLC worked hard to plan the event, and will be hosting many more activities and events in the future! TYLC committee members are: Brennan Ellis, Faith Campbell, Felicity Lopez, Karlie Scott, Alicia Fender, Patricia Haney, Chuski Scott, and Dillon Perry.
