Stephen Altrogge my question to you is this: how would you understand the scripture when Jesus says all evil comes from the heart and that is what defiles him? Is anxiety a sin that comes from the heart? or is it the brain. We have to be careful not to blame everything on the brain and its chemistry. If it is physical Stephen didnt Jesus come for the sick? The scriptures also say that he gave us a spirit of love and a sound mind. so whatever the root cause of sickness, whether it is the result of the fall, physical or mental, spiritual or emotional, Jesus came for the sick, to heal, to deliver, to cleanse, to bring freedom, to have spiritual life in abundance. God is the God of peace that crushes the head of Satan thats what the scripture says. Are we not to live on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God? My concern in all of this as someone who has run a support group for marginalized people with all sorts of serious problems is that the church in general are failing these people, and directing them to a system in the world that is also failing many people. But God is faithful, God is love and that love was demonstrated in Jesus, and as far as I can see, everyone, including the demonically bound or mad were healed, so what is wrong with what is happening in the church today is my ultimate question because we do not see a great deal of healing happening anymore. There is a good book called Pills for the Soul? by Dieter k Mulitze P.H.D have a read. And let us remember that many sick and mentally ill people have been healed, who must bring a message of hope to those still sick.
