Stert Island swim this morning... blimey, isnt the sea bouncy compared to lakes? Total loss of confidence near the start, resorted to breast stroke and thought I wasnt going anywhere. Finally got to grips with crawl, bounced all over the place then suddenly at the turn around point. Swam into the turning buoys in a most ungainly fashion, finished... well, not in the first lot, but not bad. If I had known I was getting along ok I think I would have had more fun. Pleased to have done it though. Most disconcerting incident of the whole event though was to be the only one changing where the outside showers were (which seemed like a good place to change, in my view), and looked up while about to try to get my pants on under the toweling robe, to find the mayor complete with shiny gold mayor bling had stopped just in front of me to talk to people! Hello Mr Mayor, yes, I do have my pants in my hand.... ...in future I shall stick to lakes and rivers, there are fewer mayors there. And the water is flat... oh but then again maybe next year.....
