Steve and I have always told our girls: “Be self-sufficient, independent and able to stand on your own. In doing this, when you’re with a man it will be because you choose to be, because you want to be; not because you have to be; not because you need someone to take care of you.” That was the best “flight instruction” we knew to offer them. As parents, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? Teach them to fly? There’s a quote by Leonardo da Vinci that goes, “The human bird shall take his first flight, filling the world with amazement, all writings with his fame, and bringing eternal glory to the nest whence he sprang.” Holly Roberts Mask is that bird! Your dad and I are so proud of you, Holly. We always have been, though we have failed to make a habit of letting you know. Julian Mask, our Holly has chosen you and I’m so glad she has because you are also self-sufficient, independent and able to stand on your own. The two of you complement each other beautifully! Together, you can accomplish anything you want and can overcome any obstacles and challenges that come your way, as long as you always put Christ first and remember the good times in the midst of the bad and always remember how much you love each other. Steve and I are honored to have you as a son-in-law, Julian. We love both of you very much and are so proud you. We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness together.
