Still cannot believe thatTexas is spending almost $3.5 million to pave a 6 mile bicycle path to connect Kountze to the Big Thicket Visitors Center... A six mile path... Where visitors can ride a bike in the ditch of highway 69 from kountze to the Big Thicket Visitors center... At 12 feet wide (the average width of a driveway), the same 31,680 feet of concrete could pave 633 driveways, each 50 feet long. My personal opinion is that if the same amount of money was invested in dredging and clearing village creek of debris, the net effect to Hardin county (through income generated by tourism) would be much greater. I simply cannot envision many people lining up to make the bicycle ride from Kountze to village mills.... Maybe I have missed the trends in tourism..,
