Still dont think we have a problem with policing in this nation? - TopicsExpress

Still dont think we have a problem with policing in this nation? Take a look at this video of the police interacting with Christopher Lollie in St. Paul, Minnesota from January 2014. (Note: you might be wondering why a video from January is being posted now -- well, following the event, this mans phone was confiscated for 6 months). Relevant context: The police report filed here indicated that Mr. Lollie was sitting in an area designated for employees at First National Bank and that the bank employees wanted him removed. My thoughts: 1.) I cant imagine that Mr. Lollie was able to gain access to an employees only section of a bank. Perhaps one of my Minnesota friends familiar with the MN Mutual Building can explain First National Banks unique set up where private lounges are publicly accessible. I tend to think Mr. Lollie was indeed likely sitting in a public area and was just not wanted there. Though well never see it, would be incredibly interesting to see surveillance video of the section recovered by the police. Oh, and by the way, the security officers report notes that Mr. Lollie sat down in one of the chairs set up along the side of the building on the skyway level and was told that the area was for tenants. Knowing that the police would have talked to the security officer before leaving the scene, and had to obtain his report in order for the text of it to end up in the official police report, I wonder how chairs set up along the side of the building as per the banks security guard became an area designated for employees as per the officers police report. 2.) Why is the male officers first reaction to grab Mr. Lollies wrist? Well, lets take a took at what he wrote in the police report. One of the officers says: I noticed him square his shoulders to me and was clenching his right fist as if he was getting ready to fight. For officer safety reason I grabbed him by the right wrist to keep him from punching me. Please note that all the dullards who hear of stories of inappropriate actions by police officers and tell us to wait for the full story, this is what youre waiting for. Some shit to be made up. You should also note that an officer wrote that in his initial interaction with Mr. Lollie, he took several steps back and looked past me as if he was going to run. Also in no way supported by the video, but could it have been that he was looking past you to search for his kid? I suppose that you also saw him rub his forehead, indicating that he was preparing it to headbutt you... 3.) The report also notes that they were called because of an uncooperative male refusing to leave. Them, a few characters later notes that the male refused to listen to orders and that he was walking northbound through the skyway ... meaning... that... he... left? So what the hell were the orders he refused to listen to if the goal was to get him to leave? As is often the case the orders were often asking for answers to questions completely non-germane to the incident. Mr. Lollie refused to affirm your authority, so he was not listening to orders. 4.) Can someone please explain to me why he was tased? 5.) Im tired of this shit where officers make the issue something other than what theyre there for simply because theyre officers and you didnt do everything they liked. Ive been a part of such interactions at college parties. A group isnt dispersing as fast at the police would like so then it becomes whats your name? or let me see some identification. At which point, despite the fact that the group has been dispersed, the cuffs are coming out because ID wasnt quickly shows. Mr. Lollie was apparently sitting somewhere folks didnt want him to sit. He left. Seems to me you could have gone and gotten back in your cars and went to fight crime. And we havent even talked about the effect on the kid who had to watch this. Or the effect of the security guard, who likely feels empowered. By the way, Mr. Lollie was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct and obstruction of the legal process... all of which were dropped. Feel free to comment -- but dont dare come to this post with anything that even resembles waiting for the full story or he should have just shown them his ID/told them who he was. https://youtube/watch?v=UWH578nAasM
