Stop Being Led Astray Paul wrote a stern letter to the believers in Galatia who were being led back to a form a legalistic Christianity under the disguise of adhering totally to the law with evidence in their works. Today the opposite is happening. Believers are being led to a form of liberal Christianity under the disguise of a social gospel that disregards the law (doctrine) by means of a pop-culture gospel. Both forms are of the flesh and not of the Spirit. Paul said, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall also he reap” (Galatians 6:7). The warning from Paul, “be not deceived” comes from a Greek present passive imperative prohibition, which means, “stop being led astray.” This appeal by Paul implies that the Galatians knew that they were being misled but did not care to do anything about it. This is serious business because failing to “stop” is mocking God, or literally turning up one’s nose to God in absolute contempt. Allowing us to be deceitfully led by others whose new propositions appeal to the flesh is to eventually reap corruption. Christianity in our country has fallen prey to this deception and has opted to follow political correctness over sound doctrine, and sensible tolerance over biblical principles. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for,” and that’s exactly what we have received. Take a look at our education system, our Government, and the church to see how far astray we have gone. “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting” (Galatians 6:8). The Christian life is not easy and God never said it would be. We must stand guard and be watchful lest we may be led astray by alluring and good sounding propositions. God’s way has no detours or forks on the road, but only one path: Jesus!
