Stop duplicating duties, Nakuru governor told Dunduri MCA Stephen Kihara has urged Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to stop duplicating duties by auditing the County assets, arguing that a similar exercise had been conducted by the Transition Authority last year. The Dunduri ward representative said that that the TA had compiled a report showing the assets and liabilities of the Nakuru County government. “I wonder why the Governor should form another committee to audit the assets of this County yet a similar exercise had been carried out last year before the County Governments came into office,” he said. Speaking to the media at Nakuru assembly, Kihara said that the process of auditing the County assets is misuse of taxpayers money. He said that if the Governor is honest about auditing the assets again, the report compiled by the TA should be made available to the public to ascertain their findings before embarking on the exercise again. Kihara said that the report compiled by the TA should be tabled first in the County Assembly before taxpayers money is spent on forming other irrelevant committees to carry out the audit of the assets. “The report compiled by the TA should be made available to the public and County Assembly before any other irrelevant committees are formed to start auditing County assets,” he said. The MCA also took issues with Nakuru County Secretary, Joseph Motary for placing an advertisement on National paper about the auditing process without consulting with the County Assembly. On Tuesday, Governor Mbugua had launched the exercise of auditing the County Assets with the promise that the process will help identify grabbed public land. He also called on the public to come out forward and offer any information that might be helpful to the committee in ascertaining County assets.
