Stopped by the new Flatiron store (#LEGOFlatiron) on the second day of its four-day grand opening. The statue-build is in the adjoining Madison Park -- yes, its Master Builder Dan Steininger, whom you will remember from the KoP and Christiana openings. There were five statues -- a NYFD fireman, Shredder, the four TMNTs in a totem-pole, Cinderella (so much medium azure!), and Man of Steel Superman. The store is across the intersection from the iconic Flatiron building, and alongside an MTA subway stop. The interior has a lot more sculpture than a cookie-cutter store -- Lady Libertys torch, a history of the district (hence the printed Duplo bricks during the opening weeks), a wall-size grafitti mosaic, and the Florida dragon snaking in three sections across several walls. Theres a couch lounge with a model of the district, which shows all the hallmarks of being an AFOL effort (e.g., Groot is in the park), but its not labeled and the one clerk I asked didnt know. There were no special elements in the PAB wall.
