Stories about Paramahansa Yogananda I heard these stories - TopicsExpress

Stories about Paramahansa Yogananda I heard these stories about Paramahansa Yogananda from two of his disciples. I feel both stories deserve to be heard. The first disciple told of Yogananda being driven along the coast and, upon seeing a dead bird, asked that the car be stopped. He said that the bird was definitely dead, being crushed flat.He further said that Yogananda got out of the car, went to the bird, and, using his cane, made circles over it until the bird gathered itself together and flew away.(Reiki practitioners and folks who have been introduced to Yogananda’s method of sending healing energy will relate to this use of circles.)Below is the other story, told by a monk who had gone to India to work in Yogananda’s organization there: Ananda Moyi Ma was visiting nearby and, since she and Yogananda had been very close, and since she was recognized as being a great master in her own right, he went to see her. There was a throng of people there. He was able to discern that there was a line of folks waiting to stand in front of her, and he joined it. As he worked his way along he saw that folks had objects in their hands to be blessed, so he removed the prayer beads from his neck for the purpose. When it was finally his turn he held out the beads, but Ananda Moyi Ma turned away and began speaking with one of the people with her. After waiting a while he gave up and stepped away, at which point she turned her attention to the next person in line. After a bit he decided that it must have been coincidence and got back in line. When he finally stood before her again, she again turned away from him and began speaking to an aide. So he dropped his beads in her lap. She, still talking to her companion and acting as if she didn’t know what her hand was doing, lifted the beads and dropped them on the ground. He walked away with the thought that it was definitely no coincidence. With the object in mind of learning what was happening, he worked his way through the crowd, sat down some distance from her, and closed his eyes in meditation. Suddenly he heard her saying, in his mind (paraphrase), “These blessings are all I give to these people. You, however, have been given the keys of heaven by your guru (Yogananda).” With the sudden revelation his eyes opened and he saw, through a magically opened line of sight through the crowd, Ananda Moyi Ma smiling at him and nodding her head by way of letting him know that he ‘got it.’ THEN Shortly thereafter he noticed that a leaf had been placed at his feet with sweetmeats in it. He happily decided to go down to the bank of the river (I’m supposing it was the Ganges, but didn’t put that in my notes) and there enjoy eating them. He seated himself beside the water and started to eat them and — THEY WERE AWFUL!!! I love that last part :p
