Story – FATHER, I Don’t Want A QURAN! ~~~~~ A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. He embraced his son, kissed him on the forehead. He told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and how much he loved him. And then he handed him a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound “Qur’an”, with his name embossed in gold! Tears of frustration and sadness spill down his face. Angrily, the young man raised his voice to his father and said, With all your money you give me a ‘Qur’an’? I always thought that you knew what I wanted. But the truth is you never cared about me! Saying this he stormed out of the house determined never to see his father again, slamming the door on his father’s face, leaving the gift box behind. Many years passed by and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family, but never felt peace. One day he realized his father was very old. He thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. He wished to apologise for his misdeed. But before he could make arrangements, he received a message telling him that his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to him. He needed to come home immediately and claim possession of them. When he arrived at his fathers house, sadness and regret filled his heart. He started reminiscing all the memories he had with his parents and family. He came across a closet and opened it. He found the gift box new, wrapped up, just the way his father had given him. He was so sorry about the words he said to his father. Sobbing, he opened the box and took out the Qur’an. As he lifted the Qur’an he found a car key beneath it. It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. Dated on the date of his graduation, and the words... PAID IN FULL! How quickly did he assume the worst! His father wanted him to have a peaceful life and a blessed afterlife. He gave him what he wanted. He wanted his son to be happy in this world and hereafter. Just because it was not presented the way he thought it should be, he discarded it! Now let’s think about ourselves, how many times we disgrace our parents just because they have not been going the way we like. And how many times did we miss out Allah’s blessings because they are not packaged as we expected. But our parents do love us, they know what is good for us. And Allah is more merciful to his slaves than any mother to her child, Allah knows better. So right now repent to your parents for any discretion you may have done deliberately or not. And make dua for your families that “May Allah(SWT) bless our family and us. May Allah save our parents, siblings and anyone in relation to us and us from any calamity whatsoever may strike, ad forgive all our sins! Ameen!” [P.S.: Please Dont Forget To Make Dua For The Well Being Of The Person Who Has Written This Story And The One Who Spreads It And Their Families ]
