Strange how this One technology came about at the same time many diseases and viruses disappeared in modern society which have extended the length of human life. What is this technology? Nope not vaccinations or modern medicine... A much simpler technology, a technology that for the most part exists in almost all parts of the world today except for some third world countries where disease and early deaths are recorded in much higher levels. Can you guess what technology Im referring too? Well here it is: In home plumbing, yes plumbing. Plumbing brought about running water in our homes, which brought about the bathtub, which brought about the modern day shower. With this one simple technology people went from bathing every few months to a daily routine and at the same time many diseases/viruses disappeared and life was extended by many, many years. Doctors and modern day medicine really dont extend life but a few years. Its the shower and the change in humans regimen toward having clean hygiene that took the human from an average lifespan of 30-40 years old to 70-90 years old. Now look at most third world countries that still dont have running water or ability for clean hygiene, these countries have much higher rates of disease and much higher mortality rate at a much younger age. So I think the shower and our modern day plumbing systems are directly responsible for our longevity in life and not modern medicine/vaccines..... Second thing that extends life by a few years would me modern day surgery and last would be modern medicine, but modern medicine tends to kill almost as many lives as it saves.. ~ Brett Campbell
