Study Finds that Veterans Improve Physically, Mentally and Emotionally after Joining Team Red, White and Blue. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 86% of Active Members - Veteran, Civilian, Active Duty - Benefited from the Opportunity to Share their Personal Journeys (TAMPA, FLORIDA) - (September 8, 2014) – Team Red, White and Blue (Team RWB), a 501(c)3 with the mission of enriching the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity, recently conducted a study to determine the impact their organization is having on its members. The goal was to survey all Team RWB members using an online questionnaire that measured their self-reported assessment of life enrichment. Questions evaluated their connectivity to the community, shared purpose, the civilian-military divide, well-being, and life satisfaction since joining the Team. In the one-week period that the survey was open for response, 4,034 veteran, active duty military and civilians responded. The survey results were clear and compelling. A significant majority of members across all categories (veteran, active duty and civilian) reported living better lives since joining the organization. Participants indicated improved health (physical, mental and emotional), more meaningful relationships, and a stronger sense of purpose. “We are incredibly proud of these survey results. Over 4,000 members responded, so it gave us tremendous insight into our organization,” said Mike Erwin, Team Red, White and Blue’s Founder and Chairman. “The responses clearly indicate that Team RWB is a positive force for veterans, those that support them and our communities. The survey results also highlight that thousands of well-led, committed volunteers can truly make a difference for our country. As we look forward, our biggest challenge is to responsibly manage our rapid growth. We have grown from 28 to 115 chapters in the past 18 months---and dozens more communities have submitted requests to form a Team RWB chapter. We also want to increase active engagement because we now know that Team RWB programs are working. While we are very proud of these results, every day that we wake up, we will strive to serve more veterans and more communities, more often.” A groundbreaking component of the study was measuring the benefits of belonging to an organization that is helping veterans to establish authentic connections with civilians in their community. While 57 percent of the “less active” members said they benefited from the opportunity to share their personal journeys, an astonishing 86 percent of “active members” derived benefit from telling their stories. Veterans in Team RWB have more people they can turn to for emotional support (57%), they are more involved in the local community (60%), they have more programs they can turn to for resources (64%), and feel an increased sense of brotherhood/sisterhood in their lives (66%). Overall, 56 percent (but 79% among active members) of veterans reported greater life satisfaction since joining Team RWB and 49 percent noted that the conditions of their life had improved. An incredible number, 90 percent, would recommend Team RWB to other Veterans. This is the reason that 600-700 new members are joining Team RWB every week. The cornerstone of Team RWB’s mission is to enrich veterans’ lives. The survey results prove that Team RWB program are doing just that, by creating quality relationships and experiences that positively contribute to physical, mental and emotional well-being.
