Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ~ 2Ti_2:15 Friends, The dividing line between the Old Covenant and the New is the Cross. In order for the New Testament of Jesus Christ to take affect there had to be death first. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force {after} men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. ~ Heb 9:16-17 The Old Testament was still in effect until the death of Jesus. He was born under the law, taught under the law. He did not teach we should obey the letter of the law, but that we should obey the intent of the law which are precepts and principles. And by His death he fulfilled the law and therefore put it away as a covenant to follow and gave us new commands/ new rules to enact and to pass on to others. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. ~Heb 8:13 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Heb 9:15 The Church started the day of Pentecost so everything from the book of Acts to Revelation is the New Testament of Jesus Christ.
