Stunning. Here is an example of the power that corporations as Nestlé attempt to assert over us, as they boldly encroach on our rights to water. Nestlés Poland Spring brand bottled water purchased a booth space at the Fryeburg Fair in Maine. As part of their educational (propaganda) display, they are showcasing their own redefinition of an aquifer based on a projection of profitability from our common resource. Should we allow any corporate entity to assert its unwieldy power over common language that serves to corrupt our perception of this life-giving resource? Wake up, Maine! Additionally, they are offering handouts that are meant to inform folks about the highly controversial 25-45 year contract they are pursuing with the Fryeburg Water Company. On this handout, they are intentionally misleading the public by stating it is a 20 year contract. Nestlé is willfully misleading the people of Maine down a path to water privatization with no groundwater protection laws on the books. Nestlé has corrupted the democratic process at our State and town level with clear intent to corrupt our minds. Bottled water is a bad idea in so many ways. Please, if you dont understand why, ask me and Ill happily send you information. Anyone want to help me draft some legislation on this so our grandchildrens kids can have groundwater security?
