Stunning Sara Sunny came over to visit me this afternoon proudly speaking with that American accent that she worked so hard for almost a year of staying here. She came in September last year with her mom looking for a language center that would prepare her for IELTS. From Makati, they found their way to the Center for Language Learning - Adamson University. After some interrogations about the credibility of our Center for this very wanted goal, Saras mom finally decided to enrol her daughter who was then only 15--a girl with a conspicuous pony tail that tied her curly blond luxuriant hair. This shy girl who was clad in yellow shirt and blue jeans was one of our youngest students who preferred to be on a one-on-one class. Her desire to get what she want was unquestionable for she is the only student of ours who studied for 6 hours a day in her first class. She was resilient, persevering and totally ambitious--an epitome of a Persian who strives passionately for education. In a few days, she has started talking a lot attracting everyone with her sweet smile and gracious ways. Her pleasing personality easily won for her the admiration of the other students in CLL both Filipinos and foreign alike. She had Conversational English after which I immediately transitioned her to the English for Academic Purposes program. she did Intensive English program and Speech Improvement before she finally took the rigorous program in IELTS preparation where I became her writing teacher. Prior to this she has Listening, Speaking and Reading with the other teachers in the Center. All throughout these past months I kept worrying about her IELTS results. Last month she came to get her writing notebook from me which I carefully marked. I had to give her a few more notes about her writing before she disappeared from my office which she filled with her noise about her happenings and sleepless nights of studying. Today she came filling the CLL office again with her spontaneous stories about her review sessions--how she painstakingly prepared herself for her exam, how she deprived herself of the time she was supposed to have spent with her mom during the latters 1 month stay in Manila. Sara is such an ascetic young lady who hits her target the way she sees it in her mind. She deserves to be ecstatic now for she has in her hands the option she worked hard for. Now she can choose to go to Australia, Canada or US for her university studies. All the best for you dear Sara.
