Sturt Police are investigating an advertising scam and ask anyone else who has had a similar experience to report it to police. In October 2013, a Panorama business owner was approached by a woman who claimed to be from a media group selling business advertising in a local publication. The business owner later decided she did not wish to advertise and advised the media company in writing that she did not wish to proceed. Yesterday, the business owner received a phone call from the same woman, stating that the ad had been placed in the publication and payment was required. A sum of money was debited from the business owners visa account. She then contacted the media company directly and discovered that this was a scam and there had been no legitimate contact made by the company.
