Subject: Help for Flood Victims & Volunteer Opportunities We are working with homeowners in Pensacola by removing flood damaged sheetrock, insulation, flooring and spraying for mold. (Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief organization, headquartered in Boone, North Carolina.) This is a FREE service. Requests are being handled on a “first come, first served” basis depending on need and volunteer availability. HOMEOWNERS: Samaritan’s Purse assessment teams are canvassing heavy-hit neighborhoods and talking with families who were affected to let them know that help is available, but if someone wants to directly come to us, they can show up at our base of operations or call us. The Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Unit is set up at: Myrtle Grove Baptist Church 5920 Lillian Hwy Pensacola, FL 32505 *Homeowners who need help can call us at #850-529-0867. VOLUNTEERS: Our disaster relief teams are made up of staff and volunteers. Many of our volunteers travel all over the U.S. with us to help homeowners who have been impacted by disasters. We also accept local volunteers. *People interested in volunteering here in Pensacola can also call #850-529-0867 or show up at our Disaster Relief Unit at the address listed above. Workdays begin each morning at 7:30am and end up 4:30pm. (volunteers can work a half-day by showing up 12:30pm). Background: Since 1998, more than 83,000 volunteers have worked with Samaritan’s Purse to help some 28,000 families impacted by natural disasters across the U.S. These disaster relief teams work quickly to help disaster victims by providing emergency supplies, repairing, cleaning and rebuilding homes. Five disaster relief units, tractor-trailers stocked with tools and cleanup supplies, are ready to deploy when disasters strike. This year, Samaritan’s Purse has responded to help people impacted by tornadoes in Mayflower, AR; Vilonia, AR; Louisville, MS; Baxter Springs, KS; Athens, GA and ice storms in Augusta, GA; Moncks Corner, S.C.; High Point, N.C.; and Burlington, N.C. In 2013, the organization deployed to 17 disasters to help victims of floods, wildfires, ice storms, and tornadoes.
