Such a fun day today shopping the outlets! Even though Woodbury Common is just a short distance up the road from NJ, there is something to be said for the restorative value of a short road trip. Lots of the stores had 50 or 60 percent off, and the specific things we wanted were purchased, and then some. We even covered two thirds of the hotel bill with change we cashed in and saved for the year. My parents, who never smoked in their lives, used to put the cost of a pack of cigarettes each night into a coin bank I bought from one of my students Tom Watt scout kits. They used the money as their gambling money on their annual vacation to Aruba. Cigarettes have gone up, and I cannot afford to save that much daily, but just emptying my purse of any coins adds up and I remember them in doing it...
