Sudan border! No pictures of borders. This is the most rundown border post yet. We see no private cars for last 50 K in Ethiopia. This is taxie and donkey cart country. Border town is only a row of shacks. We wait 45 minutes on Ethiopia side for customs man to return from lunch. On Sudan side - equally run down but more formal with numerous government employes. At immigration they insist we have photo copies of our passport and visa! Market across street has a hundred+ small stalls. One does copies!! Then need Sudan Pounds so walk some more and find money changer. Copies and money in hand we return to Sudan immigration. Short wait with several officials handling our paperwork - we are stamped in and sent to Customs. Customs, another building, we pay 14 Sudan Pounds ($3) per scooter road tax. Then off to Security, another building. 10 people stand in line with baggage for inspection. We park scooters (only private transport there) by front door and get in line. Man at door waves us ahead of all into the office. Fearing a long search of our loaded scooters. Each clear customs, door man waves us on with a smile. We smile and wave - on the road in Sudan.
