Summer Family Programming takes place at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center every Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am to Noon. Programming will continue from now until August 15, 2014. Activities planned for the summer are targeted towards the whole family, although some days may be more entertaining for children. Each week of the summer will have a different theme, and each day within the week will have a different activity. The theme for the week of June 23rd is: Nature. The daily activities are as follows: Monday, June 23rd: River Rock Face Painting Learn how the Native Americans made face paint, simply using rocks from the river. Tuesday, June 24th: Fly Fishing Guest(s) from Little River Outfitters will inform visitors about fly fishing. Wednesday, June 25th: Appalachian Bear Rescue Guest(s) from the Appalachian Bear Rescue will have hands-on educational materials to educate visitors on their efforts to rescue Appalachian bears. Thursday, June 26th: and Friday, June 27th: Thursday and Friday, guest(s) from the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont will bring hands-on, educational activities.
