Summer Gardening Job - This would be fantastic for our FFA high school students to consider. OPERATION HEALTHY HEIGHTS PROJECT Position: Childrenā€™s Activities Coordinator at Edgewood Elementary School Organization: Coalition for Community Development (CCD) a 501 (c)(3) non-profit Stipend: $250.00 monthly, approximately 4 hours, 2 days per week plus meetings Type: Part-time, April through October (with periodic performance evaluations) Job Description: To plan, coordinate, and teach childrenā€™s lessons for the Operation Healthy Heights Project at Edgewood Elementary School ( grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th). The focus of the activities should be to increase awareness of and access to healthy foods for the target population through gardening activities. Target Population: the students and families of Edgewood School (may also include additional Muskegon Heights families). Duties and Responsibilities: - Create, plan, and teach lessons at Edgewood School Garden to children encouraging parent involvement during the summer months - Supervise two Muskegon Heights High School students who will be assisting with the childrenā€™s activities through the Public Health Boom Youth Peer Leadership Program. - Attend CCD OHHP Committee meetings - Work closely with OHH Project Manager, Children Activities Coordinator at King Elementary School, and Master Gardener, Rick Peters - Schedule and coordinate garden volunteers, making sure there are adequate gardeners to : 1. Supervise students during scheduled garden activities, 2. Maintain gardens between scheduled activities. - Keep ongoing records of all activities - Utilizing evaluation tools, write monthly reports for the CCD Board and as needed for the Community Foundation of Muskegon County. Qualifications - Gardening experience - Experience in education and curriculum planning - Strong organizational skills - Ability to communicate and interact well with students, parents, volunteers, and school staff at Edgewood School. - Sensitivity to the needs of children and families in Muskegon Heights - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Please send Resumes by APRIL 9th, 2014 to: DR.
