Summer Shows in the City! To all art, craft, and design lovers in PDX this weekend, we have quite a lot of events taking place! AC+D alumni, faculty, mentors, and friends are showing across the city in the next couple of days. Don’t miss out! FRIDAY JULY 12 Free People Gallery Homeland 6-9pm Ford Building 2505 SE 11th Ave., Portland, Oregon 97202 Curated by AC+D Faculty member Victor Maldonado, is a group show featuring the work of eleven contemporary painters based in Portland. Mad Science PDX Gallery 135 starting at 7pm 135 nw park ave, Portland, Oregon 97209 Put together by W+K, they are describing the show as such, In 2045 the world will depend on Mad Science, a private institution dedicated to the protection of our planet. Mad Science uses time travel to transport today’s greatest minds into the future to solve the complex problems of tomorrow. Now for the first time, the public is granted access to witness the work that takes place inside." Mad Science includes work by, Eric Trine(etrine/) AC+D ’13, Nick Stokes, AC+D friend, Jason Rens OCAC alumni, and with some kind of light up space suit fabricated by JJ Goodrich AC+D ’13. SATURDAY JULY 13 Ruf•fle WhiteBox Gallery 6-9pm 24 NW 1st Ave, Portland, Oregon 97209 ruf•fle is an exhibition featuring work from a small group of Portland-based women working across the art and design spectrum. The group was created to help facilitate cross-disciplinary dialogue and critique. This exhibition is one manifestation of these conversations. This exhibition includes work by Ali Gradischer AC+D ’11, Sara Huston AC+D mentor, Kari Merkl AC+D mentor, Jennifer Wall OCAC metals…and more! VERSUS Disjecta 6-9pm 8371 N Interstate Avenue Portland, OR 97217 VERSUS is a group exhibition at Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in Portland Oregon. The participants are Pacific Northwest College of Art’s MFA in Visual Studies 2014 class. This exhibition consists of works produced at the midpoint of candidates’ studies, and explores concepts of image, language, technology, and contemporary visual culture.
