Summer is festival time in Minnesota, and there are several Nordic flavored ones coming up. We kick the season off with Danish Day on June 1st (this Sunday!) at Danebo Center in South Minneapolis on West River Parkway. This year they are celebrating 90 years of Danebo, with music and food, the dedication of the Caroline Olsen Danish-American archive, a childrens arts and crafts area, and a raffle drawing. There is also an exhibit on the life of Soren Kirkegaard, one of Denmarks most influential thinkers, on the first floor of the center. A Viking encampment will be part of the festivities, including mock battles, sword display, and arts and crafts from the days of the Norseman. Admission and Danish Day button are $4, and a Smorrebrod lunch is available for $12. Other refreshments are available for purchase as well, starting at 10 am.
