Sun, Mar 9, 2014 (Week 10, Day 5) Todays Reading: Deuteronomy 8-10; Mark 12:28-44 Deuteronomy 8 - What is God’s recurring reminder to the Israelites in this chapter? How can we remember to have the same attitude? Deuteronomy 9 - Moses reminds the Israelites of their sinful past so they do not consider themselves beneficiaries of their own righteousness. How can we ensure personal humility in our walk with the Lord? Article: “So Help Me God” (from Deuteronomy 10:20) - Many founders quoted in this article presume an oath to not only be a statement of truth-telling, but also religious dependence. How can we reinstate such a view in our civil governance? How can we fight against the secular notions that are attacking the religious reliance of “so help me God?” Deuteronomy 10 - In response to God’s choosing of Israel, Moses gives several exhortations on how to respond. Which of these speaks most to you, and why? Article: Saturate Yourself in God’s Word (from Deuteronomy 11) - Benjamin Rush states, “...Christianity is the only true and perfect religion; and that in proportion as mankind adopt its principles and obey its precepts, they will be wise and happy.” How can we reinstate this belief, not only in our government, but in our churches as well? Mark 12:28-44 - Jesus agreed with the scribe who said to love God and one’s neighbor “is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” Are you trying to replace biblical love with religious (even biblical) actions instead? Ask God to give you a full love for Him and your neighbor. OTHER READING SCHEDULES Isaiah 51-55 Leviticus 15-16; Proverbs 27; Matthew 12:22-50
