Sunday 1-26-14 Leo was back at the trailer last night. Leo and I went straight to Wal-Mart to buy some house shoes and a pair of hair clippers. This morning we brought Bubba my dog to the hospital with us. When we arrived at Jake’s room he was ready to do something. After finding out the trachea & feeding tube were to stay in place until Monday, they said the folie could probably come out today. Jake sat in a chair with a yellow paper gown around his shoulders and I clipped all the blue hair. I had grown to like the blue hair, more than once that hair caught my attention as he was being wheeled away to or from a surgery. Jake’s urine was still bloody and dark they think due to a pull on the tube and the lack of drinking water. But they were pretty sure it could come out today. Jake was not too pleased with the little old lady that pulled it out. He blamed her for the pain; Leo said it was not her fault. Leo said it could have been left in there forever! I think Jake eventually thought forgave her. She really is a good nurse assistant, always on the ball and getting what ever you needed as quickly as she could and not ever forgetting your request. The three of us took a wheelchair cruise, Leo took Jake out to the truck to pet on Bubba, Leo gave Jake some sips of Pepsi, and I a few smarty’s to suck on. When we returned Jake had to go to the bathroom and the urine eventually clear some. Two of Jake’s buddies stopped in, Couch and John they your name (he is hung out for a while. I found out from them that Jake was loaded onto the helicopter with his ski boots on. I went to the ER to see if I could locate the boots, they are not his but were barrowed from the ski shop Erin works at. ER could not find them, and were not sure he arrived with ski boots on. So if anyone knows where a pair of size 15 ski boots with a Village Ski Shop sticker on them are at please let us know so they can be returned to Mickey as soon as possible, and we will not have to replace the boots. Please contact me if you know where the boots are at and if possible please return them to the Village Ski Shop. Thank you. Later we three took another trip out of doors. We broke a few rules. I will leave it at that. When we returned to the room Jake took a good shower, put on his own clothes. You all know how good it is to tear off those hospital gowns, with the snaps and the back all open to the world. Jake got to put on his own underwear, t-shirt, PJ bottoms and socks that actually fit his feet. Teeth all brushed and mouth rinsed. The nurse came in and hooked him up to his tube food, gave him some extra warm water to fool is stomach to thinking it was full, the pain meds, I think he may be down for the count for this day. One last visitor for the night, Colleen came by before going back to Portales, her and Uncle Ruben took part in the Albq. heath air, and she brought by a bag of goodies for Jake, squeeze ball, chap stick, pain ointment, tooth brush and a lot of other small gifts they picked up from the health fair. On our agenda for tomorrow, taking the swallow test, Leo and I are pretty sure he can pass it but we are not the final discussion. And to have the trachea removed, which am pretty sure that will be coming out, I just pray it gets pulled before the swallow test so it can not prevent Jake from eating. PLEASE PRAY THAT JAKE WILL BE ABLE TO ENJOY HIS FOOD TOMORROW, PERHAPS BEFORE THE DELIVERY OF THE LUNCH TRAYS. Jake is always being told by hospital staff “Way to go” they are doctors, nurses, and others whom have come into contact over the past weeks. Many of they state to Jake they miss his blue hair, but they are so very grateful he is doing so well after such a traumatic accident. Some people ask him what happened to him but Jake can not remember any of that yet. At this time he is having trouble with numbers. All numbers are usually 12 today, but sometimes he counts on his finger until he realizes the number he counted to is the number he is looking at. He has trouble with peoples name but he usually can describe them until Leo realizes who he is talking about. EXAMPLE: Who is the guy, we make snow, I call when I can’t go there? This is his boss Eli.
