Sunday (January 25): The kingdom of God is at hand Scripture: Mark 1:14-20 (alternate readings for Feast of the conversion of Paul the Apostle: Mark 16:15-18) 14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15 and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel. 16 And passing along by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men. 18 And immediately they left their nets and followed him.19 And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20 And immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and followed him. ****************** the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel Do you have access to Gods words? How do you read the Bible? Do you take God seriously? •••••••••••••••••••••• Todays Gospel tells us about the arrest of John and the call of Jesus apostles. How did the apostles respond to the call of our Lord Jesus Christ? And immediately they left their nets and followed him. This is how God wants us to treat Himself and His Son, our Lord Jesus! God did not make a mistake in creating us. He made us for an important mission and that mission is for us to Love one another as God loved us. If you have read up to this point do not stray away. For we shall pray for the graces we need to be able to take God and His words seriously. •••••••••••••••••••••• Dear God, Thank You for making us for a special mission - to love one another. Thank You for loving us. In our confusion we beg Your mercy. In our foolishness we beg for Your forgiveness. As we hunger for wisdom we beg for Your love that we may know what to do with our energies, our time, out resources and all the gifts You have already bestowed upon us. We ought to know anf hope to remember that it is never by our own efforts and merits that we are saved but only by Your love and mercy towards us. All glory, honor and praise to You O God Almighty! Amen!
