Thinking back, I cant remember having ever been discriminated - TopicsExpress

Thinking back, I cant remember having ever been discriminated against for HOW I FLEW based upon the GEAR I flew. It wasnt for a lack of trying, I used to fly with Superdell on his gear and everyone knew it. Albeit, I only attended a couple fly-ins at that time. But for the most part when people met me and flew with me, I was just another pilot. Ive seen a lot of people claim that theyve been discriminated against, or condemned for certain acts, violations flying styles, etc. because of the gear they fly; but what is never acknowledged is the fact that those violations / acts ARE taking place. I think that although there may be a certain mentality that goes along with the gear you fly, for the most part the community takes you at face value. If you appear to be ignorant of the rules or how to fly friendly, then folks probably look for that to unfold. If you appear legit, methodical, have some situational awareness, and can generally discern subtleties; most folks will give you the benefit of the doubt and enjoy the sport with you. If you dont know the regs, dont care about your skill set, dont maintain your gear, and fly as though its your right to do whatever you want; you will likely be met with opposition not only from the Paramotor community, but the public as well. Anyone ever thought they were given a rep they didnt deserve based on who trained them / what they fly / where / etc?
