Sunday… Monday… PUNday! It was revealed recently that in order to get him to sign on to “Episode VII,” J.J. Abrams had to allow Harrison Ford some authority in decisions to hire and dismiss personnel on the set of the movie. It was an unusual demand, but Abrams allowed it, as he needed Ford to reprise Solo just one more time to complete the cast. The arrangement went well, until Abrams brought Stephen Furst (Animal House, Babylon 5) on board to fill in a minor role. No one is sure why, but Stephen and Harrison didn’t get along too well. They managed to keep it professional, but it was clear, take after take, that things were only getting worse between them until one day, Stephen didn’t show up to the set. Abrams announced in an interview, that Ford had exercised his prerogative to dismiss him. The trade journal Variety reported, “Han Fired Furst.”
