Sunday Night Pizza – No. 86 – Sept. 21, 2014 “But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.” Hebrews 2.9 It is the greatest thing in the world to be a Christian at WestRidge! What a wonderful, wonderful weekend it has been at WestRidge. Friday Night we hosted the “5th Quarter” after the Pocahontas football game and had over 80 young people show up for a couple of hours of food and fellowship in the BOB. A special thanks to Barry and Mary Chaffin, Brian and Tiffany Lindner and Mark and Jeanette Durham for their efforts in making the evening a success, and a special thank you to the anonymous donor who donated $250, allowing us to purchase 18 pizzas, which were devoured by the group. We will be hosting a “5th Quarter” again this Friday night following the Pocahontas-Trumann game, and are expecting another good crowd of kids. If you can help with the event let Barry know, or if you want to make a monetary donation for snacks, that would be welcome as well. Our “Kids Night Out” was a huge success on Saturday night. Tara Sharp said she had close to 20 kids Saturday night for the event, which allows parents some time together. What a tremendous turnout! Thanks to Tara and Brooke Junkersfeld for their work in this ministry. Both of these events are an outreach to the community, a way to plant the seed and show our love to others. Please continue to pray for the success of both of them, that they lead souls to Christ. The Shepherds met with Heyden Brill this afternoon to discuss the possibility of an internship with us as a Youth Minister. Heyden is a sophomore Bible Major at Crowley’s Ridge College (CRC) and taught the teen class this morning and had lunch with them and their parents after worship. We had a good discussion with Heyden, and are encouraged by his vision. Pray for us as we make this decision. I hope you are a part of one of the four small group classes. The discussion on discipleship has been incredible and personal. Tonight we discussed the love we must have as Christians when we talk with others. Small groups offer a great forum to study, to learn from each other, to share thoughts and ideas. Please consider being a part of one of the small groups if you haven’t already committed. Don’t forget next Sunday afternoon at 3.30 p.m. we will meet at Old Davidsonville State Park for a period of food and fellowship. If you haven’t signed up for what to bring, see Marilyn at Bible Study Wednesday night and sign the list. We also need to try to get a ballpark figure on the number of those attending so we will know how much meat to buy. If you are not going to be there Wednesday evening and still want to be a part, give Marilyn a call at 870-892-3975 by Thursday. The annual Open House and Fish Fry will be this Saturday from 10.30 a.m. until 2 p.m at the Children’s Home in Paragould. Keep Reagan Hinsley and Braxton Hogland in your prayers as they continue to battle their health concerns. They truly have been an inspiration to all of us. Finally, some of you may have seen this, but I wanted to share this video which features some of America’s finest fighting men at a worship service singing “These are the Days of Elijah” I hope you enjoy it. Make sure your speakers are on. https://youtube/watch?v=hjZ_IlP9c5A Pray for each other this week, seek ways to serve others. Love each other, be kind to each other and encourage each other. Grace and peace to you. Dalton
