(Sunday sun’s front page story today) MSWATI’S NEW WIFE: NAUGHTY SINDI! By Prince Chauke The sultry 18-year-old, a finalist in Swaziland’s Miss cultural Heritage this year, was handpicked by the 45-year-old king at the annual reed dance last week. The bare-breasted maidens who take part are traditionally virgins, but being unmarried and not having kids seem to be the only rules nowadays. But virginity is not something Sindiswa is likely to claim! The tattooed young socialite has already been romantically linked to Mswati’s SONS Prince Majaha and Prince Bandzile, both in their early 20s! A reliable royal source told Sunday Sun: “Sindi has dated both these boys. She’s a party girl used to having fun. “She is beautiful and a high-flyer. She is always out and about. “Sindi is too young for the king – but what can you say when the king chooses you? “She is only doing it because she comes from a poor back-ground,” said the source. Another informant told Sunday Sun: “Sindi is no virgin. “She drinks and smokes a lot and has tattoos on parts of her body I cannot mention.” This informant maintained: “Sindiswa is not up to standard.” The Swaziland media has been barred from displaying any pictures of Sindi or reporting any of the information obtained by Sunday Sun. Sindiswa, who graduated from Mbabane’s St Francis High School last year, becomes Mswati’s 15th wife’ and was presented to the king at the reed dance in the northern provincial capital of Nhlangano. The ceremony was attended by Nelson Mandel’s grandson, Mandla Mandela, who was dressed in traditional attire and brandished a fighting stick and a cowhide shield. The king has come under fire for his household’s lavish lifestyle. He reportedly has a personal fortune of around two million dollars (R2 Billion) and the UN estimates that 70% of his 1.2 million subjects live below the poverty line. He has steadfastly resisted reforms. A wedding only takes place once the fiancé falls pregnant. The king’s acquisition of a new wife was denounced by Lucky Lukhele of the Swaziland solidarity Network (SNN), which fights for democracy in the mountain kingdom. He said: king Mswati is a deeply troubled soul, who would benefit from professional psychological help. “Only a year ago when the country had a financial crisis caused by his lack of leadership, he pledged not to increase royal emoluments. “One would have expected him to at least try to keep his word, but now he has gone and married a sweet, 18-year-old, naïve little girl, who will require a new palace and new set of cars and escorts.” Lukhele scorned the king as a “cradle snatcher”. He said: “what kind of father shares girlfriends with his own children?’ And he accused Mswati of breaking a taboo by marrying within his own Dlamini clan. • Three wives have left the royal household in recent years. The latest, Queen LaGija, fled the palace in 2012, claiming years of physical and emotional abuse. Another Queen LaDube, was reportedly abused after she was caught in bed with justice minister, a close friend of the king. Mswati had kidnapped and married her when she was 16 in 2005. • Mswati spokesperson, Percy Simelane, refused to comment to Sunday Sun. He texted us: It is the public life of His Majesty the King that is the area of my responsibility, and not his private life.” • Swaziland held parliament elections on Friday. But the country’s parliament has no power.
