Survey: should Canada withdraw its financial support of the Palestinian Authority? Today, our foreign minister, John Baird, was pelted with eggs and shoes in Ramallah. Last week, Saeb Erekat, Chief Palestinian Negotiator, wrote a scathing article in the Globe and Mail about Baird and by extension, the Canadian government. He demanded an apology from Baird for siding with the democratic state of Israel. In 2007 the Harper government allocated $300 million to the Palestinian Authority. Last year, almost exactly to date while the Prime Minister himself visited Ramallah he pledged an additional $66 million in aid. The Canadian government has encouraged the Palestinian Authority to seek a negotiated solution, rather than forcing one at the UN and now the ICC. Despite all of Canadas assistance and attempted guidance, the Palestinian Authority treats Canada and by extension, all Canadians with disdain. Should Canada cease supporting the Palestinian Authority?
