Swapnil Acharya writes: What todays banda clearly showed that the Nepal Police department is up to no good. The police department should be encouraging people to take their vehicles out of their homes and assure adequate safety to the public. Instead, what the police was pitifully doing was derouting the people and imposing an extra layer of banda. Second, people are happily taking a day off - either posting photos of bhogate-saandheko and momo banayeko on their Instagrams or just thanking the bandakartas for cancelling their offices/colleges - thats an outrageously stupid thing if you think about it. For me, I dont mind any banda-kartas calling out a banda because I know together if we want, we can easily fail them. Instead, what we decide to do is to let it be and just try to imagine like everything is ok. Come on people, twenty-seven people stand in the middle of the chowk with flags and the entire area goes into a state of curfew. Not done, totally not done - are we so frail, so helpless that we cannot together beat these bandas? I see a major attitude issue here: of the perturbants, the police, and we as the citizen as well. Lets fix this, its never too late to start.
