Swarovski vs Preciosa (Czech) Crystals: We all know the name Swarovski, the high-end crystal giant. But, what is the difference between Swarovski & Preciosa crystals? Below is a great video that points out some of the differences, but the bottom line is that Swarovskis are higher quality and have a better cut and more clarity. However, it can be difficult to discern between the two, especially when looking at colors (particularly since Preciosas are made in many of the same colors as Swarovski). Personally, I will not use certain colors/finishes in Preciosas because I have seen them react badly to the oils in the leather. In those instances, only Swarovskis will do. Since it can sometimes be difficult to tell the difference between Swarovskis and Preciosas, some dishonest companies will sell Preciosas and claim that they are actually Swarovskis.
