Sweet Amelia is looking for a very special forever home. She is an exuberant girl who is ready to take on anything - by your side of course. Amelia experiences anxiety when left alone and in new situations, so she will require a patient and firm handler who can take the time to teach her that good things come when she is calm. She would love a home where her people are home most of the time. She was left at our shelter gate so we dont know anything about how she was in a home prior to arriving at the shelter. She is house trained, and is good with children, but her guardian must establish boundaries and reward her for calm behavior around them. She is very people oriented and loves everyone she meets. She is good with other dogs but can be possessive over items, so it would have to be the right match if she were to be placed into a home with another dog, as well as a consistent guardian who can work on this with her. Amelia is strong and will require a handler with dog experience to help teach her how to walk nicely on leash, and to help manage her anxiety. Lots of daily exercise and mental stimulation will be key to helping her become the best dog she can be, and to help her gain back her girlish figure as she is a bit on the heavy side. She would love a running or biking partner. Amelia has been spending time with shelter staff in the office and has shown eagerness to learn and is very food motivated.
