## Sweet Juliet Update ## The biopsy results are in. The tumor was cancerous: A level 2 mast cell tumor. (Level 1 = benign, Level 2 = middle of the road, Level 3 = hot / aggressive). The pathology report indicates that they got it all. They took wide margins of healthy tissue when they removed the tumor. The Vet gives her a 90%+ chance of living happily and healthy ever after. Her tubes were removed this week. They upped her antibiotics (stacking 2 types). She should be watched for a reappearance of the tumor in the same general area, or lymph node involvement down the road. Considering it was cancerous, Dr. Pepper says that the diligent & thorough removal and positive pathology (got it all) report is the best possible news. This is why we set the fundraising goal as high as we did. We have learned, the hard way, never to assume a surgery will be simple, and never to trust a mass. Juliet is happy, comfortable, recovering beautifully, and you would never know (by looking at her) that she just had major surgery. Juliet will be going back to White Oak at the end of this week for one final checkup and to have her sutures removed. She will be ready and available for adoption beginning Monday June 9th. As part of the Adoption process, the Stafford SPCA will set aside $500 from the monies raised during Sweet Juliets fundraiser, and prepay for her future Vet care at White Oak Animal Hospital for anything related to the mass, and its removal. That way, if the mass were to return, or complications develop, the family would be able to get her the medical attention she would need immediately, and before it became as extensive and dangerous.
