Sweet Revenge: Jennifers wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement - not even her parents nasty divorce. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear, and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever! A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her fathers new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother. Jennifer asked her fathers new young wife to exchange it, but she refused. Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress, and Im wearing it, she replied. Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, Never mind, sweetheart. Ill get another dress. After all, its your special day. A few days later, they went shopping, and did find another gorgeous dress for her mother. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, Arent you going to return the other dress? You really dont have another occasion where you could wear it. Her mother just smiled and replied, Of course I do, dear...Im wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night BEFORE the wedding … Oh my … Talk about sweet revenge … When we are wronged we dream of getting even … But seldom have the perfect opportunity to do so … This one would seem the perfect opportunity … Of course we as humans understand the desire for revenge … But my experience is that the payoff is seldom all it is cracked up to be … And I have to wonder what God’s perspective would be on this … It seems to me that God had a whole lot to be upset with me about … Yet He chose to not seek revenge … In fact He completely forgave me … In fact He forgave me even before I said I was sorry … Wow … How does that strike you … And then in the Bible we are told to be imitators of God … What is up with that … Does that mean we are to forgive … And the answer is … You betcha, by golly … We are to forgive, just as we have been forgiven … completely and unconditionally … That’s in the Bible … You can read it for yourself in Ephesians 4:32 Just Saying!
