Syed Rizvi Salman Taseer, governor of Pakistans largest province Punjab was shot dead in broad day light by his own guard Mumtaz Qadri a zealot Islamist because Salman Taseer was trying to defend a poor illiterate Christian woman charged with blasphemy the punishment for which is death according to the Islamic Law of Sharia. Pakistanis rejoiced the killing of the governor and called Mumtaz a Ghazi -- a highest honor bestowed onto one who kills an enemy of Islam. When the court convicted Mumtaz Qadri then over 200 lawyers mobbed and ransacked the court room in defense of Mumtaz Qadri and the judge who gave the verdict had to flee the country.
