Syncopation Fingerpicking creates two lines of music played at the same time. Notice that sometimes the bass notes (lower strings) and treble notes (higher strings) are played at the same time (like a pinch) and other times the treble notes fall in between the bass notes (alternating). This clarity and separation of the two lines of music is coordinated against a third line of music; percussive foot tapping that keeps the beat. The vocals and harmonica are musical lines four and five. Musical lines should not step on each other creating dissidence, but should weave in and out, coming together like a tapestry. youtu.be/IO8vytUTO1E
