Syrian Orthodox Church Installed New Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II is installed the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East. He is the supreme Head of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch. The liturgical ceremony of installation was celebrated in St Peter and Paul Cathedral, Maarat Saydnaya, Syria on 29 May 2014. Moran Mor Baselios Thomas I Catholicos, the Catholicos of the East and Chief Metropolitan of India, presided over the ceremony. Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II is the successor of Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I who died on 21 March 2014. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church extends it best wishes to the new Patriarch and prays for a long and fruitful ministry.
