T&T hurdler Jehue Gordon wants medal, but thinks race for gold is wide open (Submitted by Sports Journalist) JEHUE Gordon of Trinidad and Tobago wants to win his first World Championships medal but will not make any predictions going into Thursday’s final at the 2013 edition in Moscow, Russia. The 21-year-old qualified for the final after a 48.10 clocking handed him victory in the first semi-final on Tuesday. The time represents the second fastest going into the medal round. Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic will enter the final with a similar 48.10 clocking Following his good run in the semi-final Gordon said “I am just grateful to be in the final one more time.” Gordon had competed at two other World Championships with his best showing at the 2009 Games in Berlin, Germany where he finished fourth, just outside the medals as a 17-year-old. He was a semi-finalist two years later in Daegu, South Korea. But although an experienced campaigner at that level he believed the athlete who is hungrier will win the gold medal on Thursday. Said Gordon “I am pleased right now, I am not putting any pressure on myself to win any medal. I am 21-year-old, I still have a lot more to go, I have a lot to learn, I have a lot to build on. Nobody’s name is written on the medal as yet, it’s anybody’s own and I will give it my best.” He further said “the medal would do a lot for the country, but I am not putting any pressure on my self.” Gordon said he would not adjust his semi-final tactics, which landed him victory, in his hunt for a medal on Thursday. “The semi-final was perfectly executed for me. I had patience. I just remain focus on my lane and I executed the way I had planned. (Source: trackalerts)
