#TAIWAN -- From April 22, Lin I-hsiung will start an indefinite hunger strike as a silent protest against the KMT-led government’s construction and operation of the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant (NP4) in Taiwan. This hunger strike will take place at Gigong Church, his previous residence where his family was massacred. 73-year-old Lin I-hsiung has been one of the most influential figures in Taiwan’s social movements since the 1970s. Not only has he been a political figure, but many regard him as a thinker and a philosopher who continues to inspire people to take action protecting Taiwans democracy.
