TAKING SHAPE: (8:20pm Sat Jul 26) The weather scene is starting to kick in now - a large line of storms (a complex of gusty storms) is moving toward Kentucky and will continue on this track overnight. There is the possibility of strong, gusty winds above severe limits (58mph) - Mainly WEST of Huntington. HOWEVER - recent Rapid Refresh Predictor models show the winds weakening some as they enter eastern Kentucky. We will monitor through the night. At the current pace, the storms appear to be AHEAD of our models clock. Could be into Eastern Kentucky an hour or two before this. This system is turning right which means its aiming more for SE Kentucky. Again expect some brief, strong gusty winds with these as well as heavy downpours and frequent lightning. The rest of the morning features more scattered showers and storms around for most of the viewing area from time to time but the next round of real heavy and possibly severe storms would be in the afternoon. More on those later. So this first line is MAINLY west of Huntington and the main issues are strong gusts and downpours. All before sunrise. The STRONGER storms will occur west to east after lunch time and through the afternoon Sunday. --Spencer
