TAMCC releases 2013 CAPE results St. George’s, Grenada (August 9, 2013) – The T.A. Marryshow Community College wishes to announce that it has received the 2013 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) preliminary results from the Caribbean Examinations Council. In this regard, officials at the College are currently reviewing and analysing the performances of the candidates who sat the Examinations in May/June 2013. It is to be noted that in 2013 there was an overall pass rate of 86.40 % while there was an overall pass rate of 85.09% in 2012. The 2013 Unit 1 CAPE Examination results have revealed that a total of eighty two (82) Grade One’s were achieved in eleven (11) subject areas compared to ninety eight (98) Grade One’s in twelve (12) subject areas in 2012. Distinctions were obtained in the Unit 1 2013 CAPE Examinations in Accounting (5), Biology (10), Caribbean Studies (2), Chemistry (4), Communication Studies (37), Environmental Science (2), French (3), Law (2), Pure Mathematics (11), Physics (4) and Spanish (2). The best subject performances in the 2013 Unit 1 CAPE Examinations were recorded in Art & Design (100.00% pass), Communication Studies (93.48% pass), Caribbean Studies (90.12% pass), Environmental Science (90.00% pass), Literatures in English (88.37% pass), Physics (87.80% pass), Biology (84.76% pass) and French (84.00% pass). The 2013 Unit 2 CAPE Examination results have shown that a total of fifty nine (59) Grade One’s were achieved in eleven (11) subject areas compared to thirty five (35) Grade One’s in ten (10) subject areas in 2012. Distinctions in 2013 Unit 2 CAPE Examinations were obtained in Biology (14), Pure Mathematics (10), Chemistry (7), Accounting (7), Economics (7), Physics (4) French (2), Law (3), Management of Business (3), Sociology (1) and Art & Design (1). The best subject performances in the 2013 Unit 2 CAPE Examinations were recorded in French (100% pass), Art and Design (100% pass), Biology (98.77% pass), Physics (96.55% pass), Management of Business (96.34% pass), Geography 96.00% pass, Accounting (95.65% pass), Literatures in English (95.24% pass), Environmental Science (94.74 % pass), Law 94.12% pass) and Sociology (91.18 % pass). Carriacou Campus Analysis – CAPE 2013 In 2013, it is to be noted that in Carriacou there was an overall pass rate of 89.46% while there was an overall pass rate of 95.83% in 2012. The best subject performances in the 2013 Unit 1 CAPE Examinations were recorded in Information Technology (100% pass), Sociology (93.75% pass), and Economics (83.33% pass). The best subject performances in the 2013 Unit 2 CAPE Examinations were recorded in Accounting (100% pass), Economics (100% pass), Sociology (100% pass) and Management of Business (92.31 pass). The best performer in 2013 Unit 2 CAPE Examinations for Carriacou is: NAME SUBJECT GRADE Vernelle Noel Economics Sociology Accounting II II IV In 2013 , a total of 32 students from the T.A. Marryshow Community College Carriacou Campus wrote the 2013 CAPE Examinations in five (5) subject areas when compared to a total of 26 students in five (5) subject areas in 2012. The T.A.
